Monenja and Mew - 2023

Monenja and Mew - 2023

In May of 2023, I started looking out for post-surgery recovery supplies. But my bank account was crying. After being laid off by the end of 2022, I hadn't been able to find a new employment, and my savings had been depleted.

I reached out for help, asked my community. It wasn't easy asking for help. For monetary help even less. Anxiety almost crushed me and there were moments when I wanted to withdraw and just fend for myself, but I knew that I couldn't.

This incredible community of 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies really managed to raise funds for my top surgery, and then some.

They covered my legal name change costs as well. My hysterectomy got covered, too. And this website, for a full year. How awesome is that?!

I cried on stream. I cried a lot. And I pouted when people threw compliments at me. It was delightful. It was scary. It was deeply moving and heartwarming.

So, to reward the amazing folks who participated in the #LexingtonMutualAid stream in whatever way possible, I set up some incentives where I would give away art through a raffle, open to the entire audience.

This is the Full-color Artwork piece that I had offered, and it was a lot of fun to create. I took the opportunity to do two art livestreams while I was working on this, and the time spent with the community during the process has been worth more than gold.

Wholesome, spicy, one could say balls-y. I feel at home with these people. I'm grateful without end. Now I can go get my surgery in peace, knowing that I'm cared for, loved, and cherished for my true self.

GenderMeowster and the Clowder, my gratitude goes out to you endlessly.
